In the past many decades, Kathak has evolved greatly in its aesthetics, costume, technology, stagecraft, music, content and other parametres.
But one area where very little change has happened is –
Research and Theory syllabus of most dance institutes.
Resulting in students learning outdated versions of history, not being upto date with recent developments, and stepping into the world unprepared to deal with the present reality.
At All Things Kathak, we believe the present is as important as the past, the popular is as important as the classical, and research can be used to broaden our lens, if its taught the right way.
