Founded in 2022, All Things Kathak (ATK) is a registered, community-driven platform dedicated to sharing stories, rigorous research, and lived experiences around Kathak.

We work at the intersection of education, research, and community building to nurture an open space for dialogue around classical dance in contemporary India.

Research

Siddhi Goel

Siddhi is Kathak dancer, teacher and researcher. She is a disciple of Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj, performed in India and abroad. She is an alumnus of Kathak Kendra and holds an M.A. Arts and Aesthetics from Jawaharlal Nehru University.

With the support of India Foundation for the Arts, she has researched on Kathak in Bombay Cinema. As a Sahapedia UNESCO Fellowship 2017 , she created a popular and useful multi media module on Kathak.

Her work has been featured in The Hindu, Scroll.in, ASAP Art and she’s been invited to give talks for the University of Princeton, University of Pune, FLAME University, Cambridge University, South Asian Arts Society, Kathak Dance School Berlin, Radha Productions among others. She has designed dance curriculums for start ups and select schools of Delhi govt.

She founded All Things Kathak in 2022.

I had heard Siddhi Goel’s work through her India Foundation for the Arts project on courtesan culture in the Bombay film industry, and invited her to give a lecture on Kathak in Hindi Cinema, for my Indian Cinema course at FLAME University, Pune.

Siddhi’s discussion on the history, politics, and changing aesthetics of the dance were very insightful for the students. Siddhi’s pedagogy and delivery are well planned and work well for both students and advanced learners.

We have had the opportunity to host Siddhi’s lecture at Pint of View, Pune where she took us through the delightful journey of Kathak in Bollywood cinema. It has been one of the most insightful, interactive and visual lectures .

Her research on the subject , her composure to answer all questions with absolute certainty was something that the audience thoroughly enjoyed. The way she weaved the stories of Kathak in old cinema to what’s happening now was absolutely intriguing. It was a session which everyone enjoyed and she made sure it held everyone’s attention.
